Step 1

Rake

Rake

Rake the area to remove debris including weeds and grass.

Loosen the top 1-2″ of soil before planting.

Step 2

Spreader

Sprinkle

Evenly apply the seed mix by hand or with a spreader and rake the seeds lightly into the soil (1/8″ to 1/4″).

Plant when air temps are consistently above 60° with no danger of frost.

Step 3

Water

Water, Water, Water

This is the most important step!

Water daily to keep the soil moist for the first 2 weeks.

  • Do not apply herbicides/weed control 3 weeks before or after planting.
  • Germination varies by seed type, but sprouts should appear in 10-15 days.
  • Wildflower seedlings can resemble weeds, so let them grow before pulling.
  • Butterfly & Hummingbird Mix flower varieties perform best with 6 or more hours of sunshine on average per day.
